The 7,000-strong travelling Red Army were credited with their part in United's invaluable 2-0 victory at Blackburn. As Sir Alex Ferguson's side patiently toiled for a breakthrough at Ewood Park, the choral onslaught bellowed by the packed Darwen End helped haul United to three huge points.
"They were fantastic," marvelled Sir Alex Ferguson, speaking to Sky Sports. "They are unbelievable. They deserved the result tonight because they never stopped. They urged us on the whole way; they almost sucked the ball in.
"It's like the Stretford End at times, in the last 15 minutes of matches, and that's what it was like tonight."
Ashley Young, scorer of the Reds' killer second goal, was similarly effusive in his praise of the away support, insisting: “They played a massive part in getting the win.
"They were singing from the first minute right until the end. It was great to see some of the fans when we came out and we are delighted to get the three points for them.”
